Louvre has become a museum in 1793, when the first exhibition of painting collections of the kings Francois I and Louis XIV was organized here.
Nowadays the Louvre’s depository has more than 300 000 exhibits which are parts of separate collections: Fine art, Graphic art, Objects of art, Sculpture, Ancient Orient; Ancient Greece, Hetruria and Rome; Ancient Egypt; Muslim art.
Also in the museum there is a huge exposition of historic and art rarities of France since period of the Capetian dynasty.
